Dementia is more than a medical term. It’s a profound challenge that questions the preservation of identity, independence, and basic human rights. Each case is a story of a person gradually losing connection with the world around them — but never losing their right to dignity and respect. This condition transforms the lives of millions of people and their loved ones.
Today, over 55 million people worldwide live with dementia.
In Russia, experts estimate between 1.5 and 2 million cases, though official statistics are much lower due to underdiagnosis. Behind every number is a story — a story of fading memory, and enduring love.
The video reminds us:
Behind every diagnosis is a person — with a past, dreams, and habits. And beside them are those who never give up: family members, caregivers, loved ones. People who perform quiet, daily acts of heroism. Without applause. Without days off.
This is a story for everyone.
Alzheimer’s disease is a challenge that cannot be faced alone. It requires collaboration between doctors, scientists, governments, nonprofits, and businesses.
Globally, over $1 trillion is spent annually on dementia care. In Russia, families may spend up to ₽250,000 per month. This is not just about money — it’s about a system that is still being built.
It actively supports education, scientific conferences, roundtables, and helps shape public discourse.
On October 5, 2025, Moscow will host the first International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, organized by the Alzrus Foundation. Egis is proud to be a partner of this event, which will bring together experts from Russia, Belarus, and the UK to exchange knowledge and build a robust support system in Russia. The goal: to develop real, effective solutions for patients and their families.
“Alzheimer’s disease is not just a diagnosis — it’s a challenge for society as a whole. We are proud to support the AlzRus Foundation and contribute to building a support system that truly works. Our mission is not only to develop medications, but to change how society views dementia — through education, through support, through active participation,” — Irina Kurashkina, Director of Market Access and Government & Public Relations, EGIS-RUS LLC.
